PTSA FAQs Kennesaw Elementary (KES) PTSA Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) What is a PTSA? You and everyone else! Anyone can be a PTA member, including the family dog! We encourage each student and their parents to join PTA and hope other family members will as well. Even businesses in our community can buy PTSA memberships to support our school. Why should I join the PTSA? Because of your children and because of your community. Studies have shown that membership in the PTSA provides your child and other children around you with a greater chance of achieving in school. As a PTSA member, you are more likely to be an informed, involved parent. These are tough times for parents to learn ways to keep children safe, trouble-free and involved in school. The PTSA is the place to gain that knowledge. How do I join? How will I benefit from joining the PTSA? PTA provides opportunities to meet and to talk with other parents who have the same worries as you. By sharing common concerns, you will feel more empowered to do the tough job of parenting. Being part of the PTSA results in parental support and makes school involvement easier. You will no longer feel “all alone” in raising your child. The PTSA also provides educational opportunities for both you and your child. Ultimately, the PTSA provides the opportunity to serve, to volunteer and to contribute to the welfare of all children, because children represent our future. The PTSA will introduce you to a great variety of new activities and opportunities to share your special talents. The PTSA will give you opportunity, not only to impact your local community, but to have input in major legislative and policy issues affecting children throughout the state. How much does it cost to join PTSA? Each membership costs $5.00. From each membership, KES is required to submit $1.00 to support the Georgia PTA and $1.75 to support the national PTA. The remainder of the membership dues is for the benefit of the students at KES. Is there a big time/monetary commitment? Who should I contact if I have further questions? Either Co-President would be happy to help you in any way. Contact Jessalyn Anglin or Susan Bussiere to answer your questions or to help you get involved.
