KES PTSA Reflections

Reflections is a cultural arts program sponsored by the National PTA, and provides children in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 with the opportunity to express themselves through the arts and to receive recognition for original works of art inspired by the current theme.  Students have the opportunity to enter in any of six areas:

    • literature
    • photography
    • musical composition
    • dance choreography
    • film/video production
    • visual arts (which includes forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage)

Entries must be the student's original work.  Students may enter any (one or more) of the six categories, as many times as they like.  Each entry must have a completed Official Entry Form.  Winners at the school level may advance to district, state and national levels.  All participants are honored with special recognition. The theme for 2010-2011 is "Together We Can." Forms can be found here.

Volunteer opportunities include:

The chairs of Kennesaw, Big Shanty, Awtrey, and North Cobb usually work together in getting judges for the 6 categories and in coordinating due dates and dates of their ceremonies.  Chair(s) are responsible for sending out an initial flyer to all students in early September with that year's theme.  Interested students are sent packets containing rules and a registration form.  Projects must be submitted by a specific due date.

Projects are judged, winners are announced, followed by a breakfast banquet for all participants.  Parents, students, and administration attend to honor the reflections winners.  Projects by first and second place winners in each category are packaged and sent away for council level judging.

Chair:  Kara Seawright
